Scajaquada September

A Month-Long Appreciation of Scajaquada Creek.

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper dedicates the month of September to recognize the history and promote the vision of restoration for Scajaquada Creek.

[Information on this page is from our 2023 Scajaquada September. Bookmark this page and check back closer to July to see what we have planned for September 2024]
Waterkeeper’s vision is based upon the belief that water is the common thread which binds together community, economy, and ecology.
Today, Scajaquada Creek is a highly impaired waterway. However, the Creek is very important to the fabric of our community and the potential for a restored, healthy, and thriving Scajaquada is possible. Through patience, partnership, and perseverance, Western New Yorkers came together as a community to restore the Buffalo River; we can do it again for Scajaquada Creek.
There are many ways to get involved throughout the month. Explore the current schedule below, and check back soon for additional details and registration links for some of the events.

Lunch & Learn #4

Did you know Scajaquada Creek is 13 miles long and begins in Lancaster? Did you know there are sections of it buried, including under the Walden Galleria Mall? To showcase what we and others are trying to restore, we have drone footage that starts at the headwaters of the creek and continues right to the mouth at Niagara River. Join us for this Zoom session where we’ll showcase drone footage and talk about what is being viewed along the way.
