DESCRIPTION:Outside Chronicles is again hosting is WNY Waterfall Challenge\, and Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is the beneficiary for this event. \nThe challenge lasts from April 1 through June 30. This challenge will help you discover the unique waterfalls of Western New York while also helping to give back\, as a portion of the proceeds will go to Waterkeeper. \nThis year’s Challenge features 20 waterfall locations. SUMMARY:Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species Landing Blitz 2026
DESCRIPTION:Help protect our waters from aquatic invasive species! \n The Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Landing Blitz is a binational\, multi-agency effort aimed at raising public awareness and promoting actions to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic invasive species. It acts as a reminder to Clean\, Drain\, Dry your boats\, trailer and equipment when they come out of the water and dispose of unwanted bait in the trash. \n\n\nAbout the Great Lakes AIS Landing Blitz: \n\n\n\n\nBoaters and other recreators learn about the risks of spreading aquatic invasive species (AIS) at public and private boating access sites across the Great Lakes region every summer. The Great Lakes AIS “Landing Blitz” events take place over a two-week period\, emphasizing the need to Clean\, Drain\, Dry boats whenever they come out of the water\, and Dispose of any unwanted bait in the trash. \n\n\n\n\nLocal volunteers partner with state and provincial agencies to deliver consistent messaging about preventing the introduction and spread of AIS from the movement of watercraft and equipment between water bodies. Information on these events\, including educational materials\, locations and volunteer opportunities are posted on this page as they become available. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Great Lakes AIS Landing Blitz is a multi-agency partnership effort. The 2026 event will take place from June 29 through July 12\, 2026.
