SUMMARY:Solo Sweep July 2025 Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Join the July 2025 Solo Sweep Challenge!\n\n\n\n\nA Solo Sweep is a cleanup effort by an individual (or small group) that is completed on their own without the coordination of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper. These Solo Sweeps can take place anywhere\, anytime\, and people track litter collected by using the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app.  \n\n\n\n\nThe Clean Swell app makes it easy to enter trash during a cleanup. Open the app\, enter your name where it says “Group name\,” and you are ready to go. \nSome people find it easier to work together\, with one person picking up trash while another records the data in Clean Swell. There are simple icons to click for things like plastic bottles or cigarette butts to enter multiple items at once. \nAfter you are done for the day\, click “Finish this Cleanup” to record the information. \nBuffalo Niagara Waterkeeper staff will then be able to track your work and keep a tally of it during the Solo Sweep Challenge. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Planting at North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper needs your help to install plants at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens. \nThis is Thursday\, May 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register below for this volunteer event. \nDuring this 1.5-hour event\, volunteers will install approximately 200 plant plugs along Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper’s Living Shoreline project site at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens. \nThese ‘plugs’ come in trays of between 50 and 75 plants\, approximately 2.5” to 5″ deep. They have been grown out in greenhouses and will be ready to be installed directly into the meadow area within the park. \nVolunteers will work together to unload\, transport and install the plugs with various hand tools\, including augers and garden trowels.  The planting process works efficiently if volunteers work in pairs\, with one volunteer digging a small hole for the plugs\, and one volunteer inserting the plants. \nRegister Here
