This is hosted by Erie County and will be Wednesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. It is free, but registration is required as spots are limited. Call 716-858-8355 to register.
Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper will also have a table on site, stop by to say hi and learn more about our organization.
Come Join a Park Ranger and learn how to fish. This fishing program that will teach young park users and their parents/guardians the basics of fishing. Learn how to cast, bait a hook, set the hook, safe handling, and fish identification. Don’t have fishing gear? The Rangers will have rods and reels available for kids to use, as well as bait (worms and corn). This program has received an exemption from the Department of Environmental Conservation, and all kids and parents/guardians registered for the program will qualify for free fishing (no fishing license required) for the duration of the program.
Meeting Location: Seneca Bluffs Natural Habitat Park Parking Lot
Duration: 1.5 hours
Elevation: Flat – There will be an approximately 0.2-mile hike to the fishing area
Surface Description: May be muddy near water
Equipment Needed: We strongly encourage everyone to bring their own fishing rods and reel. Park Rangers have approximately 15 rods and reels that may be used for those who do not have their own gear.
Equipment Other: Please refrain from bringing dogs; this program not stroller or wheelchair accessible
