Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper needs your help to install plants at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens.
This is Thursday, May 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register below for this volunteer event.
During this 1.5-hour event, volunteers will install approximately 200 plant plugs along Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper’s Living Shoreline project site at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens.
These ‘plugs’ come in trays of between 50 and 75 plants, approximately 2.5” to 5″ deep. They have been grown out in greenhouses and will be ready to be installed directly into the meadow area within the park.
Volunteers will work together to unload, transport and install the plugs with various hand tools, including augers and garden trowels. The planting process works efficiently if volunteers work in pairs, with one volunteer digging a small hole for the plugs, and one volunteer inserting the plants.
