Throughout September complete a Solo Sweep within the Scajaquada Creek Watershed to help Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper restore and revitalize the creek. Along with collecting data and cleaning the watershed, you will also be entered to win prizes!
A Solo Sweep is a cleanup effort by an individual (or small group) that is completed on their own without the coordination of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper. These Solo Sweeps can take place anywhere, anytime, and people can track litter collected during the Solo Sweep by using the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app.
A Solo Sweeper is a dedicated volunteer who has pledged to remove litter in their community to prevent pollutants from entering local waterways.
Registrants who complete one Solo Sweep are entered in a drawing to win a pair of Freshwater Flicks tickets – a series of short films from across the world produced by the Wild & Scenic Film Festival. This event is hosted by Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and will be in late winter 2025.
Also, the registrant who records the most items in Clean Swell during the month of September will win a pair of tickets to Freshwater Flicks along with a gift card to a local restaurant in the Scajaquada Creek Watershed.
