The Clean Swell app is a litter tracking application created by the Ocean Conservancy. This page provides some simple details about the app and links to download it on your phone. For full information about the app, click below to view the Ocean Conservancy’s website. 

Clean Swell® is what Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper encourages people to use when at one of our cleanups, such as the Spring Sweep, or if they are out on their own completing a Solo Sweep. This tool allows us to see what people have collected around Western New York and use that information to then lead advocacy efforts in cleaner waterways.

This is an easy-to-use app. Once you download it, set up a profile and begin counting. Make sure when starting a cleanup to type BNW at the start of your group name (ex: “BNW Smith Family”). By doing this we can track who is using the app because of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper’s cleanups or Solo Sweeps.
