Esmeralda’s Story

For eight years while serving in the military, I had the great fortune to travel the world. I saw firsthand how other countries didn’t have access to clean, drinkable water. Seeing water crises happening all over the world made me realize that it could happen in our own backyard. Please consider donating!

I have been involved in every type of volunteer activity that BNW has to offer. I clean up with fellow residents during the Shoreline Sweep every year, and love planting at Restore Corps events. I truly believe that protecting the earth can improve a person’s life.  Between my career with PUSH Blue and volunteering, I feel my work is healing me physically, mentally, and spiritually. I often reflect on the quote from Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

I was reminded of this on my recent trip to Chile, where I was working with Conservation VIP along with a small group of volunteers from all over the world. I am also reminded of it when I think of the work that Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper has done and continues to do.  With my busy schedule these days, I am not able to volunteer as often as I would like. This is why I also choose to donate to BNW. I hope that you will consider joining me and making a donation to the organization that continues to champion fishable, swimmable, and drinkable water.
