Sweeney Street Living Shoreline Community Picnic

July 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Do you walk the trails on Sweeney Street Along Tonawanda Creek? Want to learn more about potential changes to the Tonawanda Creek shore in this area? Stop out to a community picnic on Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper staff will be at the Service Drive Boat Launch – with food and drinks – to talk about our Living Shoreline project proposals. We are currently working with the City of North Tonawanda to explore improvements along Tonawanda Creek and we want to hear from you!

The project area is the Tonawanda Creek shoreline along Sweeney Street between Vandervoort Street and Service Drive. This effort is part of Waterkeeper’s Living Shoreline Program, which focuses on restoring healthier, more resilient shorelines along local waterways.

Through this project we are exploring ways to improve the shoreline’s habitat, reduce erosion, and create more vibrant natural spaces along the creek while maintaining the views and public access that residents and visitors value.

We have created a short community survey to gather feedback from neighbors and creek users. You can find this document and more at the link below.

Hope to see you July 18!
