Where there was toxic sludge, now there is a happy couple kayaking to dinner. Where life was once inhibited by our industrial past, now stands a fisherman teaching his daughter to fish. Where nothing could live or be built, new businesses and housing now welcome a new spring for our City. The Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the restoration of the Buffalo River, these are some of the milestones we celebrate on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and after three decades of leadership from Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper.
Waterkeeper has lived the spirit of Earth Day every day for the last 30 years – bringing together partners for the restoration of our waterways and in turn, the rebirth of our region. In this unprecedented and troubling time of a global health crisis, our environmental challenges remain and our need grows for clean, accessible water and ecosystems.
Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is committed to the protection of our water resources despite these challenges, but we need your help. If you haven’t donated to Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper yet in 2020, please make your donation today to ensure a healthier and more prosperous tomorrow for our families and our community. In this unprecedented and troubling time of a global health crisis, our environmental challenges remain and our need grows for clean, accessible water and ecosystems.
